Remembering Dear Dad…
Ray Weaver
Raynard Reginald Weaver
September 28, 1926 ~ June 25, 2023
Ray flew home on June 25, 2023 at 9:03 am. He left us in his 97th year, at the White Rock Senior’s Centre. We wish to thank Ray’s dementia care team for their kind attention and care. Ray was well loved by all.
Born September 28 in New Westminster, BC, he grew up and farmed along side his father until he started his own successful dairy farm on Matthew’s Road (96th Street) in East Delta, BC.
Predeceased by his parents, Albert and Eileen Weaver (née Gregory), his brother Delbert, sisters, Nonie and Beverly, and son-in-law, Richard Johnson, and former wife, Helen. He is survived by Joyce, his companion of 42 years, and by his children Albert (Doreen), carol (Joanie), Marion (Tim); grandchildren Christopher, Sean (Allison), Kelsey (Chris), Cody (Brooklyn), and great grandchildren Eveliina, Annika, Payton, Quinn, Onyx and Sage.
Ray was a born farmer and loved being on the land. His dad taught him well and Ray continued the family tradition. He was an award-winning dairyman, known for tending to a high-producing milk herd of Holstein cattle. In 1973, a devastating barn fire forced him to auction off his beloved herd of 40 cows. He continued crop farming with his son, focusing on many variety of potatoes.
During retirement, Ray enjoyed traveling all over the country with Joyce in his prized motorhome. His biggest passion was flying and he learned at a young age from well-known flight instructor, Art Sellars. Ray especially adored his WWII Harvard plane and flew as often as he could. Most folk flew with Ray only once, as he loved to fly fast and furious. Ray also loved receiving fresh flowers, enjoyed fine food, was a snappy dresser, was quite the ham and loved to dance. He lived a good long life, loved his family, always worked hard and enjoyed many successes.
We will miss you very much dear Ray. Soar as high as you can, you certainly picked a stunning, clear day to go flying. Until we meet again, we love you!
The family is holding a private celebration of Ray’s life.
In lieu of flowers or cards, a donation can be made in Ray’s name to the charity of your choice.
